Want to Fly High – Best Workout to Increase Vertical Jump!

As a strength and conditioning specialist I’ve got to tell you that in order to EFFECTIVELY increase your vertical jump you have got to train your body to have a powerful core. One of the best ways of doing this is through weight lifting, but not just any kind of weightlifting. I am talking about developing superior vertical jump muscles through kettlebell training.
As you may know kettlebells are an ancient strength and conditioning device that have been around for over three centuries and have been used by the best athletes and strongmen ever. Even by implementing the kettlebell’s most basic strength lift known as the double arm swing you will develop superior core strength, leg power, ultimate conditioning, and lean muscle mass that would intimidate most anyone!
This single lift is a workout in and of itself. By swinging the iron cannonball with a handle from between your legs up to chest level you will incorporate hundreds of muscles at once and noticeably exert yourself more than going outside and running a couple of hundred yard sprints. This workout is no joke my friend. This is about forging an athletic body to dominate the competition and out jumping them on a regular basis.
To properly swing the kettlebell you have to pick it up with both arms. Next, you must initiate what is known as the hip snap in order to create momentum to swing the kettlebell back and forth from between your legs like a pendulum. The hip snap is done by consistently flexing and extending at your knees and hips in a fluent motion. Once you swing a moderately heavy bell a couple of hundred times you will see what I mean when I talk about an explosive and hard hitting workout. By incorporating this lift into your training arsenal you will train your muscles to improve in both your squats and vertical jump.
Take the time to learn about the kettlebell swing and other more challenging kettlebell lifts. Just about all of the kettlebell lifts happen to be great drills to increase vertical jumping power!
