The Reason Life Goals Don’t Come Easy
- Are you struggling trying to achieve a big goal in your life right now?
- Is this something that you’ve been grinding and working towards for quite some time?
- Is your pursuit of your life goals discouraging you?
In today’s world everyone is about immediate gratification and immediate results when it comes to achieving life goals. However believe me when I say that I’ve spent years of time, money, and energy and I fully understand how discouraging it can be to achieve big goals after investing so much. So today I want to take a hard look at why life goals don’t come easy.
Life Goals: Failure Is Necessary
“Don’t Fear Failure…In Great Attempts It Is Glorious Even To Fail.”–Bruce Lee
I clearly remember it was back in 2005 when I started my training business. I just signed a sublease under a tenant that was leasing space from another entity. That would turn out to be a huge mistake, but I was young and I needed a space to train my students and athletes.
Just three weeks after making the agreement this tenant told me that he had to close shop. He couldn’t pay his monthly rent so he had to be out of the space by the end of the week. Since my agreement was with the him and not the building owner that meant that I also had to be out the door by the end of the week. Talk about getting your teeth kicked in right out of the gate starting a business. At the time this was a huge problem and one that I perceived to be an epic failure.
I mean here I was in my early 20’s and I just literally got a new training facility and signed up over $4000 worth of training students which was a lot of money for me. What was I supposed to do?
Because I was already invested with expenses I couldn’t refund the money, but I wasn’t about to leave my students hanging out to dry. So I searched and searched and found another facility and opportunity.
Well my only option was another sublet situation with a training facility. Believe it or not it would end up being a worse situation than the first situation. I know it’s hard to believe, but I can’t make this stuff up.
Fast forward to today and ultimately I would restructure my business by developing relationships with independent gyms and organizations to train students out of their facilities with a profit split. I worked with some independent students and then built out this website. I’ve written half a dozen books and over 2 million words of freely accessible content. I’ve helped countless athletes and fitness enthusiasts to better their lives and performance.
In trying to scale my business to grow I now offer my online training programs, as well as other quality products such as supplements and now even the world’s best topical pain reliever!
Speaking of that pain reliever the name of the product is CobraZol Sport and I have story about that too. It’s a non-narcotic, non-addictive, odorless topical pain reliever that has the strength of many of those heavy drugs. This is not a shameless plug, but it truly is a product that is out of this world. It will absolutely transform the pain industry.
So check out this failure I had on CobraZol Sport.
Four years ago I had invested an entire year contacting every pharmaceutical, chiropractic, and physical therapy distributor in the United States. I did this in an attempt to get CobraZol into national distribution.
After a year of time, money, and relentless effort I failed to get a purchasing order from a single distributor. What I learned was that it had nothing to do with me or the product, but rather the business model.
You see at the time the distributors had a few other products in the same category as CobraZol which they were already making money from. Because of this they didn’t want to make a purchasing order on a brand new product without seeing the sales numbers on that product first.
I know it’s like the chicken or the egg. Since these distributors wouldn’t help me build demand for the product how was I supposed to build demand for it? After all, they have the downline of customers, stores, pharmacies, and the sales staff to introduce the product to market.
Well at the end of the day none of that mattered. To build demand for that product I had to sell it directly to the consumer myself. To do that I needed sizable marketing budget, manpower, and a team to help me to make it happen. Under the circumstances at that time I had none of these so I had to put CobraZol Sport up on the shelf and take a break from it for a while.
That was a hard pill to swallow. I mean both the manufacturer and myself had invested everything in the product. Taking a minute to step back was very hard.
As a result this ended up having a huge impact on my life. My business tanked, my personal life took a nose dive, and I had other fallout as well that I won’t get into.
However fast forward to today and now I have an awesome team backing me with this product and we’re launching a marketing campaign to blow the market up with CobraZol and it’s starting to work.
Life Goals: So What’s The Point?
So I didn’t want this article to necessarily be about all of my failures and setbacks, but I had to talk about all of this to illustrate the point that all of those failures were necessary. These were necessary to prepare me for what I’m looking at doing now. In fact, all of these so-called failures were really not failures at all, but rather a tough life lesson in gathering information.
So the point of this is that life goals DON’T come easy because you MUST go through the trials first. You MUST prepare to learn what it takes to pursue something that’s a challenge. Challenge brings out your competitive spirit which will make you stronger in your particular endeavor.
However, in my own journey I’ve been very aggressive in the pursuit of my goals. I wake every single day looking for a way to attack my goals and to actually achieve them. I’m not saying this to pat myself on the back, but rather to illustrate that if you are looking to do the same then you DON’T have time to waste.
You need to spend every moment learning and trying new things. You need to do this to figure out what works to get you to where you want to go. Time is all you have and you can NEVER get it back so you better be aggressive with how you use it!
Life Goals: The Takeaway
Make sure that when you pursue your goals in fitness, business, and life that you have a smart plan. Why waste time with a poor plan, or one you’re not sure about?
Are you aggressive in pursuing your life goals?
What goals are you pursuing now?
