So yesterday I decided to go a different direction by taking my training outdoors to engage in my athletic performance program. The weather was nice, but it was hot and I promise you there was no shortage of sweat and oxygen deficits during that hour! The work time was put in and it also got me to thinking about today’s post. This is something you’ll definitely want to check out!
Simple Equipment=An Innovative Training Environment!
There are tons of fitness products out there that you can get your hands on to provide yourself with the makings of a killer outdoor, or in home gym. I often hear folks talk about they don’t have ANY equipment to get in an effective strength and conditioning program. The fact is that even the most advanced programs don’t require a whole lot of fitness products to fill the void of building a strong training program. Because of this I decided to include a small list here just for you. This way you can acquire your own arsenal of fitness products and equipment to build your own gym and to do so at a very affordable price! So BAM…problem solved!
1. The Good Ole Agility Ladder: (Click On Images Below)
Yep, you know you can elevate your conditioning, speed performance, and footwork with a simple agility ladder and all you need is the availability of some flat open space. It’s ideal for getting in some tremendous work, improving agility, and it’s a cost effective means of conditioning. This one is a no brainer!
2. Medicine Balls:
The fact is that there are all kinds of medicine balls and with each kind another door is opened to a whole new world of sick body movements! The truth is that you can purchase a cluster of these bad boys at various weights and throw, slam, and toss your way into getting into tremendous shape for most any task. These are easily transported and your getting a whole bunch of BANG for your strength training BUCK! Personally I love medicine balls and these are a great investment.
3. Weighted Jump Rope:
Everybody has jumped some rope at some point in time, but have you ever jumped with a heavy weighted rope? Let’s just say these bad boys will humble the cockiest kid in the gym or on the playground. If you need the added work capacity to ramp up your conditioning then this is the fitness product to consider. There is never a happy moment on the playground when jumping with one of these puppies…assuming some kid is using one on the playground, but I seriously doubt it. 😉
4. Safe Adjustable Plyo-Box:
Now there is more to this one than meets the eye! First of all, a plyo-box is great to use for the obvious…Plyometrics, duh! However the thing that makes this particular device stand out is that it is really a combination of boxes because you can adjust its height to vary your working intensity. In addition to using it for the seemingly obvious purpose of plyometrics a plyo-box happens to be a very versatile tool in a number of other ways as well. Obviously if you possess a versatile plyometric program then that goes without saying, but even if you keep it basic the plyo-box can be used for a number of other different drills ranging from elevated arm and leg push ups, to step ups, to mountain climbers, and on and on and on. This one is a great investment!
5. The Suspension Trainer:
The suspension trainer is one amazing fitness product. This device can be used for a battery of different drills and can help you develop the kind of core stability that a stuntman could drive a Mack truck over. Ok, maybe not…but then again maybe so? I wouldn’t recommend trying it, but you get my point. Considering everything you can get from the TRX suspension trainer and it’s versatility this is one fitness product that you want to load up the shopping cart with. There are many basic drills that you can build off of with this device and quickly advance your training with the inclusion of more and more dynamic movements and variations. This one also offers a lot of training BANG for your strength training BUCK!
All in all, I think I’ve included a pretty solid list of fitness products here for you to break the strangleholds of equipment limitations and boredom from your strength and conditioning program.
