Go Beyond Lifting For 2015

Well 2015 is here whether you like it or not. Because of this I’m striving to set some new standards for you looking ahead to the new year. There is a lesson to be learned here my young Jedi of strength so make sure you don’t miss out on this blogisode! 


So one of the main lessons to take from today is the lesson of persistence and follow through. It seems to me that 2014 was a year of excuse making for a lot of people while at the same time being a year of great accomplishment by others.

If you don’t take away a single lesson from this blog post or any other blog post I put out remember this…Let this be the last year of New Year’s Resolutions for you concerning fitness and strength.

If there’s one thing that irritates me more than anything it’s when people have all the talk with none of the action. You know the drill. People flood the gyms from January to about March and then go away for another year. This is the annoying kind of shyt that really gets my blood boiling. 

Let’s look at the reality here. We live in an era full of distractions. People walk around with their heads down buried in their smart phones all day long and even drive in their cars doing the same…which is another rant for another day.

The point is that society today has convinced people they are special and that they can be all, and do all things all the time. This is the biggest BS mirage in society. You can’t be all things all the time. It’s not reality and you’re wasting precious time and energy if you believe that. 

Yes, it sounds cool to say you went snowboarding, skiing, hiking, jogging, on vacation, on this, and onto that half the year, but it didn’t do a damn thing for you if you’re not backing it up with a serious devotion to a certain craft or skill. What are you investing in? What are you building? What have you accomplished? 

The point is that unless you have a major bankroll you really have no business being distracted with experiences that don’t offer you any value. I know what you’re thinking…Ok, Brandon now you’re being a stick in the mud. What are you talking about? 

Sure it’s fine to unwind and blow off steam from time to time, but the problem is I see a bunch of folks in society unwinding and blowing off steam and then they wonder why they aren’t getting ahead in life. How about unwinding and blowing off steam when it’s warranted? How about being devoted to building a life instead of being envious of someone else’s? 

You’re New Year’s challenge should be to build the life you want and start being devoted instead of just being interested. You see that last sentence is something I’m finding myself having to clarify for folks on pretty much a regular basis. 

I mean I’m interested in snowboarding. I’m interested in boating. I’m interested in deep sea fishing. Now I may be interested in all of those things, but I’m not devoted to those things. I’m not out doing those things on a regular basis. 

You see I’m devoted to making my body strong. I’m devoted to building my business. And I’m devoted to my family. There’s a big difference between being devoted and just being interested my friend and many people have interests which can be classified as distractions in my book. 

You see there’s no magic involved when it comes to you building your life. There’s no magic involved in you building the level of strength and fitness that you desire except in this video. 

In other words, it takes a ball busting consistent effort day in and day out, week in and week out in order for you to achieve the dreams you desire the most. They WILL NOT happen if you just “sort of” go after them. You’re either all in, or you’re all out! 

For 2015 go beyond just lifting. Lift, master, and accomplish specific goals with your physical development. Don’t have time for the gym? No problem, invest in a set of kettlebells to ensure you can get a well rounded and purposeful training session in right in the comfort of your own home. 

So kettlebells aren’t your thing? No problem, invest and work to apply the knowledge of a well rounded program that utilizes other tools to acquire strength and performance. 

Nothing is just going to FALL into your lap. The value you place on something can only come from the efforts that you put behind it! Stop making excuses. Stop being envious. Stop being a damn victim. Stop wasting time. 

Those are all negative choices. Start making purposeful positive choices and stay FOCUSED for 2015!!! If I pissed you off good, because this probably applies to you if you are pissed.
